Linux: Xandros and Ubuntu
Windows is a verry dangerous operating systems as most electronic experts like Leo Laporte would say. Of course there are ways to stay secure, but for someone who just wants to browse the internet and check e-mail or create word documents, it's a big hassle to update the software scan your computer wich can take very long. There is good news though there are operating systems that can run on your computer that are like windows, the only problem is that it's not exactly a smooth road as windows is, there are a few things that take getting used and there are limited things that you can do on these machines. Today i'll be talking about two linux operating systems called Xandros and Ubuntu that might be right for you if you have different needs then you should check out http://www.distrowatch.com it will show you all the choices for linux op's (operating systems). Let'starts off with Xandros, Xandros is a very good linux machine, it's absolutly free all you got to have is a cd burner and a blank cd and you can make your self a shiny new Xandros cd. Xandros comes bundled with all the software that you'l really ever need including open office.org's suite of office programs. It also plays mp3 file formats so you don't have to install any codecs to play your mp3 files. It also easily installs RPM files also Debian software since it runs on debian based software it also runs good on dual boot so if you have some windows programs you want to keep then you can keep them aside running on a small portion of your hard drive that runs windows. It's defnitly one to watch for but is not a windows replacement so don't erase your windows op please!!
